This is one of Howard’s “rants”!
GlaxoSmithKline’s bestselling diabetes drug Avandia has been worth billions to the company. But sales plunged in 2007, after evidence emerged that the drug increased risk of heart attack and death.
Why hasn’t the FDA recalled this drug?
According to the Mayo Clinic, more than 90 percent of researchers who have published studies favorable to this controversial diabetes drug had a financial stake in the issue.
The FDA has a poor record of protecting the public. It seems they are more concerned with protecting the pharmaceutical companies.
For instance, FDA “whistle blower” Dr. David J. Graham, called the FDA’s approval of arthritis drug Vioxx, “The single greatest drug safety catastrophe in the history of this country or the history of this world.” Dr. Graham states that massive changes need to be implemented for the future protection of the public. Read his testimony before a U.S. Senate committee, November 18, 2004:

There are also numerous reports of medical scientists who lie about their research. Read the story about Dr. Scott S. Reuben, an anesthesiologist and former chief of acute pain at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Mass. This is one of the biggest research frauds in history >>> medical research fraud
